...I guess the year's over, huh

Got to spend time today and yesterday with my sister and the niblings. They're still adorable.

I recently pointed at a new to me show, Orville -- basically a Star Trek clone that feels more true to Trek than current grimdark Trek shows. Some of the characters are annoying but overall it's good. Of course I'm way out of fandom circles any more so I'm probably late to the party... ah well.

I also have a bunch of comfort watching to do -- Galaxy Quest, Princess Bride, LotR, forget what else. Probably Die Hard, haven't watched that yet this year (...which I will also be able to say tomorrow but that's less impressive). Nightmare Before Christmas. Good Omens S2, probably also S1. Things like that. But first, finishing Orville.

I'm thinking of doing a low-key art thing next year where every week gets a different letter and then I draw stuff starting with that letter. Probably doodles not finished art. 26 (letters of alphabet) goes into 52 (weeks of year) exactly twice so either I loop through twice, or do two weeks per letter. I have a week to decide...

(And I don't have a touchstone word yet but I'm close.)

Anyway tl;dr hi I'm still alive. 2023 was a year, 2024 probably will be too. Hopefully a *better* year than the last few, overall, but definitely a year of some sort.

I hope 2024 brings y'all good things. Or at least isn't a dumpster fire...

I've been watching The Librarians (started as a rewatch but then turns out I'd seen less than half

and here's an episode where they just figured out there are vampires

and one of the characters, Jacob Stone, kinda growls "I don't like vampires"

...he's played by Christian Kane, who was (Eliot on Leverage and also) Lindsey, an evil lawyer on Angel

My amusement at this is vaster than it probably deserves.

Hmm fannishness

I've been sort of ... un-fannish lately. Haven't written fic in forever -- last thing posted to AO3 was April, there are only two fics for all of 2012 (compared with 34 for 2011, of which only three were december postings) -- haven't had plotbunnies in ages. Didn't do anything for kink_bingo (while I theoretically have 3/5ths of a bingo, it's yarncraft stuff that only is loosely kink-related). Didn't sign up for *yuletide* (first time since 2004). Heck, I'm even behind on currently-airing shows that I like.

I found my fannish muse stirring today, for the first time in a while.

Because this is me we're talking about, it's for something that doesn't exist.

I got caught up on Castle finally, watching a couple of eps each day for a few days, and, uh.

My brain? Wants me to be super fannish about Nebula 9.

Can't do picspams for fairly obvious reasons, but fic, all the fic, and maybe some fanart, and then fic to explain plot holes that I made up, and...

... yeah, I'm not sure whether to encourage my brain in this, or just facepalm a lot.
