Zapatos nuevos! Sort of.
So in the quest for getting new shoes that I can actually stand in (which is generally athletic shoes, because I need a lot of weird-angled support), I have rather fallen in love with zappos.com because a) they have a good range of sizes, and b) returns are free (even the postage) as long as items are in original packaging and in good condition.
Mind you, I have super wide feet. Like, extra extra wide. I would have wide feet if my feet were normal, but the FOP toe thing makes them even wider.
And most IRL shoe places? Don't carry wide.
Even in men's sizes (which run a lot wider than women's).
So I tried getting a few things via zappos. My old shoes (which have lost all traction in the areas where I stand) were Rockport ProWalker in men's 7.5 wide, so I tried those in 7.5 XW (4E). Too small. Returned them. Decided zappos returns weren't too stressful.
Second attempt tried other things, of which my favorites were Propet Stability Walker Diabetic Shoe (except a 7.5 XX was too small, barely) and Propet Blazer (8.5 X) which seemed ok but on prolonged use was a little tight.
The thing is, my shoes have been black since forevers. (Because often with the wider shoes, it's a choice between white and black, and of those two black is better.) I do have some variety now -- mostly boots (a pair of ZOMG PURPLE boots, and then a pair of camel-tan pseudo-uggs) -- but the boots are hard to stand in and also not really summer wear, and the dailier-worn shoes are still very black.
The Stability Walkers? Black.
The Blazer? Brown and tan with accents of red and black
I feel like I "ought" to get the SWDS because they're probably somehow better. But I kind of want to get the Blazer just because NOT BLACK. And I feel guilty spending too much money.
So here, help me decide please!
