Stitches West loot

So two weeks ago I went to Stitches West -- basically a huge-ass yarn convention (and when I say huge I mean it took two and a half hours to just wander up and down all the aisles, not buying anything, just looking, and marking stalls of interest on the map) -- and I finally was able to get pictures of my loot.

(As recommended by several people, I went with a set budget in cash, and so my haul isn't *large*, but I also don't need huge quantities of yarn right now. And someday I will buy myself some qivit, but that is not this day.)

So. Pictures! There is no particular order to these. Also, click for full size, because I couldn't figure out how to get them Not Hyoooge [tm].

First: Kauni Effektgarn, colorway EQ. It called to me because of the colors...

Yarn, in purples and blues

(not that purple and blue are my colors are anything), and then doubly called to me because of, well, the colors. If you peek inside:

Yarn, lighter than true color, showing the rainbowy insides

...surprise rainbow! I love it. I mean, the rainbow is less surprise when worked up, but. Pretty.

I also walked away with this, also Kauni Effektgarn, EF colorway:

Yarn, mostly maroon and green

It is listed as mauve/lilac, but there's a sort of greyish steel blue and a foresty green in there too.

KE is 660 yards of sportweight wool, so perfect for shawls. I am trying to decide which particular ones to use (I have six or seven flagged as possibles. There will be a poll later.)

Second, we have this:

Yarn in shades of grey

which is laceweight mink. It is not quite as soft as qiviut, but still hella soft and squishy. I can’t decide between a cowl or wristwarmers, but I know that I am keeping whatever I make from this purr purr purr. Seriously, I petted a FO made from it and had a few second where my brain shortcircuited from the soft.

Third, there is this:

Yarn in shades of brown and green and grey

which is Dizzy Blonde Studios superwash sock in Zombie. That I’m 90% sure wants to be a Dragon Tail Neckerchief (but it has a 10% chance of becoming a Steampunk Cowl instead). DBS is an indie dyer that got recommended to me; I am totally in love, and it was hard picking just one. Silly budgets.

I also got two patterns, but never mind those, because they were spontaneous "zomg cute must get" that broke my rules of a) seeing everything first and b) not getting stuff that is easily available elsewhere. But owl! and jellyfish! and I have a niecelet! ...anyway.

Last, there is the thing I got that is not fiber-related at all, but rather a necklace:

Necklace, silver-bordered teardrop that is sort of opalescent

Necklace, silver-bordered teardrop that is light brown with darker brown veining

Necklace, silver-bordered teardrop that shows the brown-opalescent duality

...that changes color depending on angle. Because it is a butterfly wing. Literally. It is so very shiny.

Wow, secret!rainbow!yarn is amazing! And I love the black/grey/white yarn, too, even without touching it (I'm a huge sucker for monochromatic colour schemes), so I can see why you'd be planning to keep its eventual product. :D

Nice haul overall, and staying within budget is always good. :P Love the necklaces, too - I've seen butterfly-wing jewelry before, but haven't any of my own, so it's neat to see yours! One day I want to try making my own, but it's way down the list of future projects for me, so who knows when it'll happen.
