1. I've officially had Phoebe for a year now. Doesn't seem that long, somehow. She is still the bestest girl. (Standard disclaimer that other dogs may also be bestest; ties are acceptable here.)
1b. Her puppy raiser came for a visit today :) Phoebe was of course extremely happy to see her. (Yahtzee made sure he got a share of the attention, lol.)
2. Having wheelchair issues again... current/old chair has for years had a weird no-tilt error mode -- it won't tilt or recline back, *will* tilt or recline forward (but then that's the new 'stuck' position), and won't do side to side tilt at all; there's no clear trigger so it's hard to troubleshoot; it usually resolves in anywhere between a minute and several hours, for no apparent reason; it's not a loss of connection because some tilt features work, but the techs haven't been able to figure out what's happening or why -- and it's been doing that for the majority of the last three days. Tilting is necessary pressure relief, plus I need to tilt back to get in/out (because I transfer with an overhead lift, and in the air I'm basically horizontal, so it helps if the seating is too), so that's fun.
2b. ...and the new wheelchair is still not quite usable. It's better than it was earlier in the Chair Saga, but the joystick is in an entirely bad place, so reaching the joystick is awkward and painful, and I can't reach the buttons. Sigh. I have a call in to NoMotion (UnMotion?) for both issues, but I've had the chair in my possession since September (with the whole saga going back to May of 2022) so not holding my breath.
3. Inflicting the "Vindaloo" football (Brit.) song on my aides has the unfortunate consequence of re-earworming me too, but that's an acceptable cost for, uh, sharing the love, lol
4. For anyone who likes reading police/detectiv procedurals, I'm really enjoying the series starting with Angel Maker. (Technically there are earlier books with the main character, Jamie Johansson, but AM is the one I started with). It's set in Sweden, with a female lead, and it's good imo.
5. I still like having a shaved/ buzzed head.
6. The art thing I'm doing -- one sketch/drawing a day of items starting with a for the first week, b for the second, c for the third, etc -- is working nicely. It's enough structure without being constricting, and fairly low pressure (except for the day I decided "flautist" would be a good idea; holy fudgeballs, hands are hard enough without being in wacky flute-playing configurations!). After the second day, when the attempt at an apple came out weird, I decided it would be better to use a photo reference, just doing an image search for whatever term and using one of those. B week I did in color, partly because bacon looks more bacony when it's shades of red, partly so I could include blue-footed booby, but the rest have been pencil-esque (digital of course because Procreate, but with a pencil-imitating brush and in just a dark grey) and some have come out really well. I'm up to G now, woo.
7. Trader Joe's has some extremely delicious brookies. I'm kind of addicted (only not really). Also their mini ice cream cones are amazing, but I've known that for a while.
8. Tried a new cpap mask to see if it would be easier. I've mostly used nasal pillows because it has the lowest profile, and I spend several hours on the iPad while wearing the cpap. If I could put it on myself I could just put it on when I'm ready to sleep, but my evening aide leaves at 9 and I don't usually go to sleep until midnight. But the nasal pillow style has bits that go up into the nose, and the aides have trouble getting it in right, and it isn't cooperative and likes to fold on itself. So I tried a nasal mask, the style that's like a tent over the nose. (I can't do the one going over both nose and mouth for safety reasons, so didn't even consider that.) The nasal mask was way easier to get on ... and blocked about 75% of my view of the iPad. Not just because of the profile of the tent, but because the cheek straps are an inch off the cheeks, which is great for preventing chafing but blocks a good portion of my line of sight to the tablet. And it's not just boring, not being able to see the tablet when awake for hours, but it's a safety risk, because I can't see to message anyone. So ... back to the up-the-nose one it is.
9. Sorry I keep being so bad at reading DW and therefore have no clue what's being happening with y'all. It's not y'all, I promise! I just... forget it exists?
10. This took an hour to type up. Sigh. Hate how slow typing is these days. And typing on tablet (stylus plus thumbs on touchscreen) is faster than computer typing (mouse clicking on virtual keyboard).

<333 brains do (re forgetting DW) be like that.
I want to scream in frustration about your chair second hand, good grief.
Hurrah for Phoebe and art <3

I am very boring, which is a Good Thing.
...I'm catching up
...and the tilt mystery sounds infuriating. (I lurk on some wheelchair FB/Reddit groups, and NuMotion is universally derided as No Motion).
Apple keeps claiming that Dictation and Voice Control are improving, but I haven't got the swing of correcting things yet. Content of my journal notwithstanding, things Must Be Correct.
(just noticed my icon matches your journal theme! Taking my wins where I can find them.)
Also just noticed I'd told the No Motion/NuMotion story already, damn where did my brain go?
