To sum up: SO MANY FEELS. And Sherlock is such a troll. Omg.

Date: 2014-01-03 04:50 am (UTC)...I just realized that one thing that was subconsciously pinging me as WRONG about the train scene is that ... I can't see Sherlock doing that. Especially the laughing. Partly because embarrassment squick, although I realize that he doesn't have one, but partly because it's ... sadistic. Literally, because it's taking joy in another person's pain, and ... he can be oblivious to social clues, yes, but he doesn't go against them in that sort of way.
Also, while I haven't rewatched it, knowing that it's all acting -- on Sherlock's part -- will ratchet my squick factor up to eleven. Tearful brink-of-death confessions are apparently a big kick of mine, but when it's all deliberate manipulation? No, just no.
(If this were a story I were betaing, I would suggest changing that bit to -- the off switch disconnects it but doesn't stop the countdown, so Sherlock doesn't know if it worked, and so genuine emotions etc, and then John goes "wait, hasn't it been longer than a minute thirty" and Sherlock isn't surprised but is secretly relieved. Or something.)
