Juggling three levels of insurance is a total PITA, but that's the standard level of hurry-up-and-wait, and it's SO WRONG! I'm happy to answer Qs from strangers who are curious about obtaining a wheelchair, and to a person they're floored when they learn what the Medicare/Medicaid process is like.
No lumbar curve? I had the same problem! Here's an out-of-the-box solution courtesy of my PT/OT/miracle body worker. She solved it with a rectangle of poly fleece, folded into a loose, low pillow. I have a stock Quantum back, with a stretch cover, and nice foam split by a vertical channel which holds a gel strip parallel to my spine. She adjusted the fleece to various thicknesses, testing it with the pillow between my body and the back's cover. (The fleece was rough enough to stay in place for a short time.) When we got it right, she pulled the stretch cover off then tucked the pillow under the gel strip. It took all of 30 minutes—no purchase orders or prior auths or nothing.
I wish to hell they'd give us the software and cord so we could program our own joysticks! They'll come by and adjust it, and it's only a week later that I realize, no, I don't want the slow program to turn THAT slow &c &c. The last time I tried, I used program 1 as a reference, and then suggested percentage changes from that value for other programs. The mechanic couldn't understand what I wanted. Luckily I have five programs, and two of them are pretty great for day to day.
