ysobelDreams last night seemed all about overwhelm.
1: non dream backstory is that my mom needed an email reminder this morning and (not wanting to try to talk her through why she didn't just set an alarm) I offered to set a scheduled email. The dream involved me checking my email the next day to find increasingly frantic email replies from my mom, because the scheduled email had turned from "at specified time, send the email" into "starting at specified time, send a copy every ten minutes until manually disabled at sender end".
2: driving down a country road, dark cloud develops to the right and swiftly looms closer, turns out to be thousands of bats flying at just above car level; they just barely avoid hitting the car
3: some sort of remote ocean observatory, barely above sea level, with walls made of glass or some other transparent material. There are two rooms, a front and a back; the front wall (facing the ocean) and the partition between rooms are both entirely made of panels of glass with double doors also primarily glass. There's a rogue wave big enough to come halfway up the walls, to the fascination of the scientists inside, but the walls hold; then a few minutes later there's a second huge wave that comes up over the top of the building, and something hard carried by the wave hits the glass and cracks it, so the scientists go oh shit and most of them hide in the back room; then there's a third wave, even bigger, that utterly smashes the front walls, floods the front room, and cracks the partition, with the clear implication that the next wave will destroy that and flood the back room; the one guy that didn't get into the back room is washed away with the wave's retreat.
I'm sure this has ~absolutely nothing~ to do with the "everything is fucked and I don't know how to fix it" overwhelm I have about not having enough aides (and also about society and war/terrorism and politics and trans rights and every other fuckery going on), right, 🫣
