ysobel...learned at rehearsal tonight:
If a song title (in Russian) is "kak za lugom", and you are asking if someone needs a copy of the music, do not abbreviate that to "do you need kak?"
Especially do not do so if a parallel conversation has the same person (of whom you were inquiring about kak) talking about things which are too pretty to eat.
This will cause gutter-minded listeners to /crack the fuck up/, and derail rehearsal for ten minutes while everyone who was close enough to hear all laugh hysterically, and the other half of the room, who didn't hear what was going on, stare at you like lunatics.
(I am /totally blameless/ in all this. I was the one being asked, and I processeced* the question as it was meant, and someone else was the one to drag it into the gutter. So. Completely blameless. Except maybe for the part after that where I totally didn't keep referring to "kak" as often as possible just for the fun of it.)
[* yes, I did just type that. And yes, it's not a word, and Firefox is helpfully highlighting it with a red squiggle, and I would probably have been able to tell it was wrong anyway, because I have leet spelling skillz like that, but it amuses me enough that I'm keeping it in. It has a nice symmetry, except for the bits that don't.]
