Not pics this time. Nope. This part's interactive.

Basically, I want to rename her, because her current name is a bit too ... glurgey? ... for my tastes. I have a shortlist, and I'm waiting to see what fits her best (and for some reason I keep calling her Sunshine; wtf, self?), but I figured you guys might have some possibilities I could consider. :D

"Things you keep calling the cat" is in fact how cats tend to pick their names. :D

It is my experience that you don't pick a cat's name so much as discover what it is. Give it time.

What's wrong with "Sunshine"?

Thirding. Wait and see what her name is.

My family's always had a useful guideline, namely that any possible name should be one that you'd be happy to shout repeatedly at the top of your voice in a public place.

But ultimately, you don't get the final say. You can try out various possibilities, but it's down to the cat whether they stick or fit or whether the cat will insist on answering to something completely different. *g*

I don't know her nearly well enough to suggest a name! Joining the chorus telling you to wait and see what her name is.

I suggested Marlene simply on the association of her being a tuxedo cat and Marlene Dietrich being iconic in her tuxes. But in all seriousness, yes, just keep trying out new things and see what fits. Usually with my cats I say it out loud a few times, try calling them that, see what sticks.

With Jude, as you might recall, he was nameless for four days after I got him and I couldn't make a vet appointment for him because I couldn't figure out what his name was. And as much as I call him "Ezio" and "assassin!cat" (when he's stalking my feet) and "what the fuck, dude?", Jude is actually his name. (Although he gets called Judy nine times out of ten.) And yeah, the name came out of my own tastes and love of puns (I adore that I get to come home and say, "Hey Jude!" every day) but it stuck because it fit him. So yeah, go through names that are associated with something that makes you happy, throw them at her, and see what sticks.

My only other point of advice would be name her something the vets' assistants can pronounce. LOL Which is why Jude didn't get named Llewellyn.

Our youngest cat is named Miles and does respond to the name (oh, oh how well we picked his name; oh, how well we did not realise we had picked until later). But he responds to Monster as well because he gets called it a lot. Which is sort of amusing. If also ARGH CAT.

At least for me, that would constantly remind me of the line from "One Night in Bangkok" (from Chess) "I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine", and then I'd have the song in my head all day.
