ysobelErik takes one of Charles' pawns, swapping his knight for it like a magic trick, and then rolls the captured piece absently between his fingers. Charles watches, mesmerized.
"It's your turn," Erik says mildly after a few minutes. Charles flushes and looks up, but Erik isn't watching the game board either. He's staring straight at Charles, and grinning, rather like he knows exactly what he's doing.
Which means he's doing it on purpose, damn him.
Fine, then.
Charles inhales sharply and nods, and uses his queen to take one of Erik's bishops. It's a rather mediocre chess move, but it does allow him to nonchalantly bring the piece to his mouth, tap it against his lips like he's thinking, and then suck the tip of the bishop into his mouth as he slouches back. The metal piece warms up in his mouth.
"Your turn," he says cheerfully around half a mouthful of bishop.
Erik is still staring at him. Charles just raises his eyebrows, the very picture of innocence, even as he sucks on the bishop strongly enough that he can feel his cheeks hollowing.
"Interesting," Erik comments in a voice that sounds just a tiny bit strangled.
