Summary: Charles has always considered himself to be broken -- not human in more respects than just his telepathy. But he puts up with sex for Erik's sake, until a stray thought makes him realize that maybe he's not alone -- and maybe he isn't broken. Written for an xmen-firstkink prompt here.

...at a bit over 6k words, this is the fourth longest fic I have up on AO3 -- and the others were written at least six years ago. o.O

I am so undeniably smitten with this and Pursuit of Understanding. I find them endlessly fascinating -- both as a pair [of stories] and individually. I remember reading Pursuit of Understanding first and then once I saw Mosiac I had to go back and find my tab/link I haven't written up as a rec where I knew I had to immediately re-read Erik-as-asexual, not realizing that you had actually written that one, too.

I just--argh, I used to be so much better at writing out feedback when fics make me so happy and thinky.

Mosaic is beautiful, heartwrenching, and the characterizations make my heart sing.

This LINE, this line kills me because it's so perfect:

"Stained glass windows," Erik says, "are pieces of broken glass laid in a pattern." He shakes his head. "You see yourself as nothing more than broken glass. I see you as who you are."
