It's one thing to know, and be told, that dogs respond better to people they know, that it takes time and bonding and stuff.

It's something else to see what seems like everyone else interacting wonderfully with their assigned dogs, and to not even be able to get my dog's attention.

They do say this will change...

It will change, yes. I've had multiple dogs, including abused rescue dogs. Getting a new dog's attention is nearly impossible in a busy setting. You will probably see a big change tomorrow as it will recognize you this time.

The dog doesn't know yet that you're the source of all good things. Have confidence. Be open to your dog. That is your dog. They don't know it yet. Remember that's who you're going to be to this smart, emotional animal—all good things. You're in control. <3 Even when your dog is being a bit of a poop, that's your dog. You're the one in charge.

That can hurt, yes, but it will definitely change!
