ysobelso my hordelet -- (I know, I know, I'm neglecting Jhalia >_> ) -- hit 80 and is doing dungeon runs, both normal and heroic.
except. I don't know if it's my build or my skills or what, but I'm consistently low on the DPS chart. (same is true for Jhalia, who's a rogue, which is why I've been hesitant about pugging anything with her.) and it really didn't help that ... the heroic daily was UP, and I was in a group and we were chugging along and we get to the last boss, which is the one for the quest as well as the achievement, and we keep wiping, and one of the people in the group tells me I'm not doing enough DPS, and there's a little bit of sympathetic noises from the other people (it's hard when you first hit 80, this isn't an easy instance), and then the first person basically says "so uh I think we need to replace you. bye."
I said that I understood, and I left without fussing, but the stupid thing is how much it hurt. I usually can take people telling me I suck. Especially when it's true. It was just ... frustrating, having put that much time and effort into doing the best I could in that instance, only to not get the final prize. Wasn't entirely wasted, I had emblems from the previous bosses and loots and stuff, but. Still.
I tried respeccing to marks (with remainder in BM) to try to improve my DPS, but burning mana and ammo against the level 80 training dummy I still couldn't break 1k. And it's one thing when I'm playing by myself and the worst that happens is I have to do a corpse run, but being in a group and being pathetic DPS? ... with Jhalia, I could explain it as the disadvantage of leather melee DPS. with a mail-capable ranged DPS, I should be kicking ass. and I'm not.

Date: 2009-07-19 03:48 pm (UTC)Getting replaced at the end boss is horrible behavior on the part of that group, and I'm so sorry about that! If you guys were wiping that much, trust me, it was not your fault. (That last boss is a jerk, for one thing.) I have been in groups with more than one undergeared newly-80 before, and a single person's low DPS does not an untenable instance make.
