December daily meme - 14
Dec. 14th, 2013 05:45 pmmaster post here, still taking prompts!
I'm running a few days behind, but whatever, I have empty days anyway :)
12 14: Talk about one of your favourite tropes/kinks to write.
Hmmm. Well, my favorite sort of story is That Which Writes Itself In My Head, but that's not an answer.
My favorite thing to write, not exactly a trope, is Exploring My Own Issues. Which, well, at the moment seems to be $Character Is Asexual.
(though specific to fanfic I also rather enjoy Exploring The Consequences Of (Canon) Actions.)
Kinkwise, probably what I tend to call Consentual Noncon. This is basically ... well, what it sounds like. It can be consent play, like prearranged scenes that play out deliberately rough, or telepathic influence (one of the reasons why XMFC is so lovely to play in); it can be aliens-made-them-do-it or sex-pollen scenarios that the characters secretly want; it all falls into the same sort of thing.
I make a VERY STRONG DAMMIT boundary here between fantasy and real life. The sort of scenarios I write about are often things that in RL would generally be classified as rape (not all, because negotiated BDSM play exists as a RL thing) and "but s/he really secretly wants it" is a rape apologist line; and so I tend to overcompensate by making it clear that both parties know that both parties explicitly want it. So what comes out on paper is not as ... sharp-edged ... as what's in my head.
Which is, occasionally, frustrating.
