O Captain, my Captain

Robin Williams has passed away; apparent suicide.

I am somehow taking it harder than I ought.

I don't usually connect much with celeb deaths. There's a vague sense of "well, they won't make any more movies/songs/$whatever, that's too bad" but ... This is different.

Partly because it's depression that's killed him, and whatever demons he had are cousin to my own.

Partly because I've been semi-obsessively watching clips from Dead Poet's Society all evening, and holy fuck is that a depressing movie. I'd remembered very little: blah blah poetry blah blah standing on desks quoting O Captain as he left. I'd forgotten the whole thing (minor subplot abc all that) with one of the boys committing suicide.

Partly because ... I don't even know any more.

I just know that my heart has been heavy for a lot of today.

I know. I woke up to it this morning. I am crying here and as you said, celebrity deaths rarely affect me.
