CW: car crash, dream version

I was ... somewhere, the surroundings kept shifting as dreams do. Several of us sitting in bleacher-style seating waiting for some sort of concert maybe?

I saw someone crossing ... not so much a street as a parking loop; she walked with thick forearm crutches and an awkward gait and the determined head-down posture of someone trying to be unnoticeable despite a body that is too broad and not-quite-controlled to pass as normal. And out of nowhere a rust-orange van comes speeding along, hits her, and I don't remember whether the van stopped but I do remember her landing hard on the sidewalk and her crutches on the other sidewalk and the momentary freeze of is-this-real

No one else seemed to have noticed what happened either, just me and one other person, so he called 911 while I went to check on the victim and "keep her conscious", however that works. She was fluttering awake as I got there. I asked her name (Tawny) and she started in on the obviously oft-rehearsed and oft-used spiel of how she was all right, she got seizures sometimes but it wasn't anything to worry about (undertones of please leave me alone, stop drawing attention to me), and I finally got words in edgewise to say gently that this wasn't a seizure, she'd been hit by a car, please just wait for the ambulance, and then she was crying against my shoulder

The police got there first, before the ambulance, and someone -- my dad, why was it my dad -- went sauntering out to meet him, ambled back, asked who had called 911 from a "mobile device" -- I raised my hand, as did the guy who had actually called -- and said that he'd told the police they weren't needed. But the orange van was still in the area so I begged him to go back and get the police back, because we needed them, and he did, but at the same casual slow pace and I could hear the police car start up (why were they parked so far away) and I couldn't do anything but scream in my head for him to go faster

(I woke before the ambulance got there, before the scene resolved)
