Age of Ultron thoughts

ysobelToo lazy to write a full post, but.
Spoilers, obvs.
So okay, I sort of enjoyed it, but it felt like a mashup of "Second movie setting stuff up for third" syndrome (see also Iron Man 2) and "way too much stuff crammed in".
Also, as much as I enjoy the MCU, I am starting to get Marveled out, especially since I tend to be a completionist which is fine for, say, watching three movies to understand a fourth, or watching a tie-in series, but it's getting *ridiculous*. And I think sometimes stuff loses out to trying to tie everything together. http://bit.ly/1K3nAEt does a good job of explaining some of what I think re that.
Stuff I really did not like, in list form and no particular order:
* Sterilization what the everlasting fuck. (It would have been SO MUCH BETTER for a) the "graduation ceremony" to be an unspecified menacing thing, b) Nat to respond to "I can't give you kids" with "I don't even want kids and what would I do with a 'normal' life", c) the "monster" line to refer to being an assassin and not being sterile, and d) NOT TO HAVE the whole stupid pastede-on-yey romance in the first place)
* Clint's family what (secret sister, sure; secret wife with kids, omgwtfbbq)
* above two points combined felt like a sledgehammer to the fan shippers (even though I am not one); particularly the second just felt like it was only there to skewer Clint/anybody (Clint/Coulson and Clint/Natasha being big fan favorites as far as I can tell)
* How did Thor get from drowning (after the city falls) to not
* the "Language" line (this is my favorite headcanon for it)
* also the Prima Nocta line (though I sorta want to write fic where Nat or Maria pulls him aside later and is all "um not funny" "In my defense I was drunk--" "doesn't excuse it." "but it's not that bad, it wasn't a rape joke or anything" "Tony, what do you think PM *is*?" "(garbled incorrect assumption" "um, no, (actual facts)" "oh. well, shit.")
* How did Thor know what was in the cradle
* Internet does not work that way
* JARVIS no ;_;
* Also how did anyone but Bruce know what the mangled Jarvis brain was (seriously, Tony pulls up the smashed-to-pieces no-longer-a-sphere hologram and everyone understands what it is even though Bruce was the only one in the room when he was showing the Jarvis-vs-infinitygembrain)
* If Wanda goes after fears why was Steve all happy dance with Peggy and not anything about Bucky
* wtf African dialect no no no that is not how you language
* (At least there were black people in the African city?)
* why did Thor go to random-ass dreaming pool instead of back to Asgard for research
* Natasha's light-up suit I mean what
* whyyyyyyyyyy
What I *did* like:
* Biceps porn
* motorcycle porn
* the new baby's middle name being pietro
* Evidence of practicing together - esp Cap and Thor, with using the hammer and shield to increase the devastation power of both
* Tonys little "yay" on finding the secret door
* The one dude who refused of launch in cap2
* The running hammer gag, incl pietro grabbing it (and being yanked off his feet) and vision wielding it
* Thor being all "Lesser humans should be careful but I am too mighty to be mind-whammied oh huh"
* "The city is flying, there's an invasion of robots. and I have a bow and arrow. Nothing makes sense." or whatever the line was
* Pietro and Wanda going from "we spent two days waiting for Tony Stark to kill us" (because why blame the person using the bomb when you can bear personal hatred against the man who built it) to working with the Avengers to acknowledging that SHIELD -- as it was intended to be, at least -- isn't actually that bad after all
* also Vision is kind of adorable, in an AI sort of way, though I still like JARVIS better
What I am going to do next:
* ignore Ant-man and Fantastic 4 and Daredevil and whateverthehellelse and just stay with the parts of MCU that I am already attached to
* not rewatch AoU unless I have to and pretty much pretend it doesn't exist
* go back to the X-Men crossover with Steve/Bucky and Charles/Erik and ~soulbonds~
(and speaking of X-Men I like DOFP's Quicksilver better than AoU's.)
