Updates'n'stuff

a) sleepovers are fun, once I stop internally flailing about stuff like "my place is cluttered" (floors are clear only because I can't reach them and also wheelchair, horizontal surfaces are a mess; the floor is effectively invisible to my clutter-dar so I see a higher proportion of Stuff than most people) or "woe, I can't match other peoples' sleep schedules" (yet I don't expect them to try to match mine)
b) cpap made my sleep better -- I actually felt awake and not-depressed during daytimes, zomg sorcery -- but I had to give the equipment back so they could analyze data for the best pressure to use etc. shockingly, I feel worse without it.
c) saw rheumatologist about hand issues. the resident with him seemed ready to adopt the "it's FOP, not arthritis or anything else" summary the radiologist who analyzed my x-ray did -- which, c'mon, medical people; just because there is a known zebra present doesn't mean that all hoofbeats are due to that one animal! sometimes there's a second zebra or even a horse! -- but luckily the doctor didn't settle for that. He did order a bunch of tests, blood stuff and urinalysis and a hand MRI.
c') and he is also looking into thyroid levels, because on the intake form I mentioned both fatigue and thinning hair. dude. I kept trying to get my doctor to test thyroid but he has been dismissing those as "symptom of depression" and "natural part of growing older, since it's gradual and not sudden".
c'') I did not at this visit mention possible EDS since it's a self-diagnosis, untestable since I have no hypermobility any more, and also because most of my talking was with the resident, not the doctor, because the doctor wanted test results before making guesses. I can't decide whether to bring it up (pro: family yistory, plus possible cause of pain; con: total self-diagnosis and makes me look sorta hypochondriac) next visit or not.
d) I have permission from both my hand therapist and my dad (the latter of whom would be covering the cost if insurance doesn't) to get a silver ring splint for my wonkiest finger, I have the measurement information my hand therapist took, *why am I stalling* argh
e) brains are weird.

Date: 2015-09-10 07:48 am (UTC)If you can, it's best to get actual numbers off your doctors for thyroid results - the "healthy" range was recently reduced but that hasn't reliably percolated to medical practices. /Unsolicited Advice Alex
