Sep. 23rd, 2015 05:57 pmMed scheduling ugh: antibiotic is "Take four times a day with food".
Most days I am only out of bed 10 hours. I can take meds ok in bed, but eating is bad idea because a) crumbs and b) lying on back.
Most days I only eat two or three times.
Asked pharmacist about exactness of timing. He said it wasn't a "take every six hours exactly" thing but made frowny face at the idea of doing it spread only over 12 hours (I exaggerated my schedule slightly to make it easier). He suggested breakfast / lunch / dinner / bed, but lately I've just been going to bed an hour after dinner.
I'm not quite sure what to do...

Date: 2015-09-24 09:56 am (UTC)Yso, is there space in your budget/can you emotionally etc cope with those little squeezy sachet portions of fruit compote? Because it's okay to take this kind of med with those as your "food", and they don't need refrigerating or whatever, so I find them... useful for this kind of thing, and that might give you a lot more flexibility on timings?

Date: 2015-09-25 12:56 am (UTC)The squeezy fruit idea sounds good. I don't know how likely those specific meds are to bother your stomach, or what foods work for you. But, I also wondered if something like a yogurt drink or bottled smoothie, or even something like Ensure might work. That’s been enough to go with some meds for me (not NSAIDs :/ ), but I am also OK with a certain amount of dairy.
Definitely wishing you luck figuring out something that works for you, though!

Date: 2015-09-25 08:32 pm (UTC)check with the pharmacists how much food constitues "with food"?
Ive been told in the past with my own "take with food" meds that a single cookie is enough food to satisfy the "take with food" aspect, because the stuff I was taking just had to not be on an empty stomach, but didnt need to be on a full one,
