Belated squee
Sep. 14th, 2019 08:12 pmI'd been hesitant to watch the new Dark Crystal series because I was afraid they'd ... well, not mess up my childhood exactly, but the DC movie was one of the defining things in my early life, and I didn't want some cgi-ed monstrosity ruining the movie.
But the cast list was good, and I'd heard good things, and so I started watching it.
I am utterly and completely in love.
Okay, technically I haven't finished it so I might find the end episodes disappointing. But so far, it's magic.
Also, Hup is the best.

Date: 2019-09-15 06:13 pm (UTC)The Skexi seemed a bit to...I dunno, two dimentional and tropish to me. That said, I only got like 10 minutes in to the first episode, so that could've been a mistaken impression.

Unless you actively *don't* like it, I'd suggest giving it a bit longer -- you haven't met most of the main characters yet, especially Deet and Hup, and you haven't really seen the world. Okay, I may be biased because I have fond memories around the movie -- which you don't need to have seen to watch AoR, though there is some overlap in characters; I don't yet know how much gap there is, if any, between the end of the series and the start of the movie, though I have my suspicions -- but, uh, hi, I'm babbling. Sorry :)
