Trying to figure out general island layout. For now
(status of now: both nook's cranny and the museum are open, as of today and yesterday respectively. Bridge has been placed, to be built tonight. I have the three housing plots, but haven't placed them or built furniture.)
...I am placing houses on the beach, so later I can terraform as needed without them being in the way. I probably ought to have put the other buildings (cranny and museum; don't have ables yet) beachwards too, but meh. I won't have terraforming for a bit but it's good to think.
Option 1 is basically a 3x2 grid, as divided by the streams, bottom middle being landing area plus plaza buildings. Option 2 is plaza in middle, moat, then one season per quadrant, rivers in X? Plus?
Option A is order seasons as a clock pointing north. Option B, clock pointing forward. Option C is left to right in rows.
Option i is divvy by season, spring summer fall winter. Option ii is divvy by holiday, cherry-blossom Easter pride Halloween winter. Option iii is divvy by resident count, though that might not work well.
So 1Bii would be top row l-r Easter pride Halloween, bottom l-r blossom plaza winter. Might work. Then again, part of me wants to put winter in the back. Instinct is: winter back right, fall right with Halloween in front. Plaza with welcome area mid front. Summer left, with ables. Spring left back. I guess that's counterclockwise. Ooh, and my house behind fountain!
Or flip clockwise. Halloween front left, fall behind it. Winter back left. Blossoms back right, elevated; bunny, in front of that. Summer right. But ... pier is left. Hmmm.
Yeah I'm babbling.
Known regions of gwyliau:
* cherry blossom area, Sakura, maybe tia because teapot?
* bunny day area, ??
* pride, dom
* Halloween, lucky, ankha?
* thanksgiving or general fall, maple maybe
* Xmas winter, sprinkle and/or aurora
I have access to maple and sprinkle
(I could hide my house behind museum lol)

Log extra-long sofa (I'm not sure about this one. I may have to build one and check.)
Retro gas pump (This only changes the little circle at the top)
There's the rainbow pattern you can get from Sable, but I ended up making both vertical and horizontal Pride flag patterns myself depending on the item.
From what I remember reading, villagers can't be gifted furniture cutomized with a custom pattern. I don't know if that includes Sable's patterns or not.
Update: Log chair, Log extra-long sofa and Log bed can all be customized. With the chair and sofa, it's the pillows on the back.
And I forgot about beach towels, pet beds, plain wooden shop sign and stalls, they can be customized, too.
