I wonder if the other villagers ever resented that only Alma got a miracle? I mean the encanto was for all of them but only one family got Gifts.

Why does Luisa need to move the church? Or the bridge, for that matter.

I wonder if all the donkeys are inbred by now.

Also why did the donkeys getting out again a) matter, if they can't go far, and b) fall to Luisa to fix (rather than the dude building a better enclosure)?

Bruno telling Isabela that the light of her life would be promised and someday hers ... is that him seeing the engagement to Mariano, or is it something else, and why am I so fond of the interpretation that she's ace?

Bruno's vision of Mirabel was flux-y. Interpretation 1: she is involved with both the cracks forming and the cracks healing. 2: the future could go either way. If 2, how many others of Bruno's prophecies were maybes? Are his visions definite or just possible futures?

What could I do if I knew I didn't have to be perfect, it just had to be?

I wants to design a crochet pattern for the stuffed jaguar, but so much sewing argh.

How does the candle get back to the upstairs window after Antonio gets his gift? Abuela has it for the ceremony and pictures, then poof it's back in place just in time for Mirabel to see the cracks.

I don't get the significance of "but stars don't shine, they burn" -- is it that burning takes energy rather than passive prettiness?

I'm sure I will have more later, heh

I think Alma was so pushy on "community service" in part to at least try to forestall the resentful attitude. It even mostly seems to have worked, though I'd be very surprised if there weren't at least a few jealous villagers offscreen. (Did it backfire slightly with them coming to the Madrigals (esp. Julieta and Luisa) to fix Every Little Thing, yeah probably.)

Exact text from the song/prophecy: "He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine / he told me that my power would grow like the grapes that thrive on the vine." The second part is obviously true, and given how Completely Accurate the rest of Bruno's visions are I think the first is going to/has. It was absolutely not about Mariano. As she is very pointed about (and in subtle ways that i didn't really appreciate all of until my most recent rewatch), Isabela is very clear from the beginning of the movie that marrying him is not, in any shape, her dream. I can easily see her being ace, or at the minimum focused on "i need to find the right person first" (and THAT ISN'T HIM OH GODS)

Bruno was interpreting it as wibbly-wobbly but honestly I see it as being Exactly True, just he was trying to make sense of a thing that seems to have deliberately had the chronological clues mixed up. Vision without context is, as is frankly kinda traditional for seers, a really hard thing to deal with. He did his best. (And i circle back to, i don't think it's really a gift to dump that on the shoulders of a five year old. How did he manage the visions before he had the developed esoteric process we see?)

The lyric feels a little forced to me as well, but I think the intended reference is to, like, egotistical attention grabbing and pinpoint focus on being Special versus the sort of quiet unobtrusive community-building that Mirabel is so fucking good at. Hearth fires.
