(yes, the plural is deliberate.)

(context: Potato Moon -- which is, I might add, in reverse chronological order, so you'll have to go to at least page 3 to find the beginning. It is dorky hivemind fun. With potatoes.)

(And I totally do not admit to being responsible for the were-penguins thing. Because I would never do such a thing. Srsly.)

I got as far as seeing the character named Edwood and dissolved in giggles. It does rather set a tone, doesn't it?

That was my thought when writing it, yes -- but alas, someone before me had changed him into a ferret at one point, not to mention a chicken and a goldfish, and plus I was already over the recommended word count*, so I left out the explanation of how the conservation of mass thing explained two penguins (and in the process explaining that his were-Ford-Prius form had been exceptionally light).

Alas.

(*I could have brought the word count down by removing the random and obscure Vagrant Story reference, but, well, where's the fun in that?)
