Slept HORRIBLY night before last, which was partly forgetting to take night meds and partly I don't know what. Slept horribly last night, despite meds. Do not expect sleep to go well tonight.

I have run out of story for my nano thing. I just feel utterly drained, like I've gone dry. I know creativity isn't supposed to work that way, it's something that you get more of the more you use it, but -- not right now. I am out of spoons and out of words and out of ideas and I just ... I can't go farther. I *can't*.

(if I had another week, I could take a day or two off as creative break and then work on some other story. but I don't.)

So. Final word count for this year's nano is 40k. (well, 40,305, technically.)

And I know I could artificially inflate the word count so I could get a shiny winner's badge because 40k is a hell of a lot more than I thought I would get, but I am cheating enough as it is (a lot of the words in the file are not really story) and I don't want to cheat more.

And I can't write.

So 40k it is.

40k is pretty darn good! And there are definitely times when there is not an ounce of creativity left to wring out, no matter what, I don't care what anyone tell you about how creativity is 'supposed' to work.

agreed! Bang on!

It's for this precise reason I try not to limit myself in my writing by word counts etc. I just do bits here and there and edit a lot before publishing or even just attempting to publish things.

I've now been composing poetry, music, lyrics, short fiction and little comedy sketches for so long that I'm attempting to organise it all better so I don't lose it or eaten by mice; thrown away by cleaners. Also because I'm interested in seeing what the 'outside world' would think if my name was suddenly on a book. I would rather the public meet me in a more specified way than if I am doing session vocals; a chat with me briefly in a library or at a university; 'asking me non-specific questions'.

So many books out there, I rather think there is room on the market for everybody. After all, am not a fan of the mainstream-type bestsellers and am as such unlikely to ever be someone who writes for that audience. Unknown, captain!
