dream stuff
Dec. 28th, 2010 12:11 pmI was in charge of managing a GOH speaker (someone from church, no idea why church was all intertwined) and she was on a no-beef diet and so I told her what was available based on what I had had less than an hour before - except it turned out that that had been Lunch Stuff and there was different Dinner Stuff and a lot of it involved beef and I felt horribly incompetent
-
and then there was the auditorium full of people and I was supposed to introduce the GOH but there were stairs everywhere so I went on a hunt for a wheelchair access to the stage but I couldn't find it and it was getting late so I just did the intro from the middle level of the balcony
and I was given the introductory text, which inexplicably involved a story (that came with artwork, slightly surreal, a day scene that then morphed into a night scene where the moon was all scaryweird) and I was having trouble reading from what I was given, like I was reading a foreign language or something, none of the words were coming out in the proper cadence
(and somehow the story changed to involve someone blindfolded and kidnapped and I havve no idea what else)
and I'd only gotten partway through when the head pastor (I did mention that these were all church people?) gave me grumblings about how I was taking too much time (I was just reading what I was given!) so I stared at my text for a while trying to figure out a way to summarize the rest, but I couldn't figure out how so I just gave up and handed the microphone over
-
except it didn't work for her, so I got it back and went on with the story but people were leaving, and it was all a big embarrassing failure
