Jan. 5th, 2011 12:20 amWhen I was a kid, I liked to draw. Horses, especially.
I had how-to-draw books. Horses, cats, dogs, sea life, dinosaurs, I forget what else.
If I traced from the book to get proportions and angles correct - and if I lied about doing so - my work was praised, lauded, framed, shown off.
If I did it just with hand-eye coordination, it never looked right, compared to the other, and it never got the same sort of attention regardless of how much love I poured into it.
I'd forgotten about that, until recently.
...I want to get back into drawing for fun. Without cheating, and without shame at how bad it is. Just ... drawing.
