Things what amuse me
Sep. 11th, 2009 09:28 am... mainly, dragons. >_>
* Grabbed a pygmy egg off the AP on dragcave.
It was partly an "ooh I don't have one of those" click, but partly a nifty-code grab: co1L. Once it hatches, I'm planning on naming it Te5La co1L, because I am a giant dork.
(All dragons have unique random four-character codes. Usually they're gibberish -- UuVJ, rj5n, WQ3G -- but sometimes they can be accidentally awesome.)
* Despite the fact that dragon genders are randomized, they seem to cluster. My two summers are both male; whatcha wanna bet that
and
turn out male too? And
will probably be female. Silly dragons. Stop with the gender clustering! It's okay to be different!
(This whole thing is actually part of the origin of the Dorkface lineage, or at least the name; way back when, one of the people kept getting male golds, and she threatened one hatchling that if it turned out to be another male, she would name it Dorkface. It did, and she did...)
* As a result of this gender clustering, I tend to get confused about the gender symbols, and about which sets need what; my ochres are female, and so I am vibing male vibes at my ochre hatchling; which resulted in me going "omg want" at someone offering a male summer. Of which I have too many males and not enough females. *headdesk* I even double- and triple-checked...
(ps I need a CB black female to mate with my Dorkface to try to breed an alt. The last CB black I got ... gendered male, of course. If anyone happens to grab a CB black and doesn't want it, I can breed anything off my scroll for you in exchange >_>)
* in non-dragcave dragon news, the angels-vs-dragons universe I'm theoretically writing has expanded into a three-"generation" story. (Not really generations, but partnerships and trainings: the angels work in pairs, either Jedi-esque master/apprentice training pairs or lifemate pairs, so there's W finding and training X, X partnering with Y, and Y finding and training and eventually partnering Z. And dragon politics in the background.) Not sure whether this will be a single novel or a trilogy type thingthough with my current writing speed it won't be anything at all but since it started out as just the Y-Z story, it's ... well, changing. A lot.
(also, the Dragon of Upper-or-maybe-Lower Cotswold, being a dragon in a different story who suddenly learns to talk, is being a smartass.)
* in non-dragon news, Cute Kitty is still cute. I have secretly nicknamed her Tootsie Roll because she likes to roll around, and also licks herself a lot.
(Tabitha is still her official name though. Not that she responds to it.)
