This seems like an appropriate time to post this (especially for #yuletide folks [hi, #yuletide folks!]). For DW purposes, unless otherwise specified, "friending" is any combination of access+subscription; I know the Proper Terminology is "adding to Circle" or somesuch, but friending is shorter.

So:

* Anyone can friend me at any time. If you're a random person, and feel like dropping me a comment or PM to say how you found me, please go ahead and do so.

* Anyone can de-friend me at any time, but please let me know why, if you feel comfortable doing so. A generic "I'm cleaning out my friends list" type post will work if it's a generic spring cleaning, but especially if the defriending's in response to something I did, I'd like to know.

* Despite DW's sub/access split, I usually grant both if I'm granting either, and I will generally also reciprocate friending. I am not highly discriminatory about who I give access to.

* If you want me to remove access to you (so that you can watch my public entries without being subjected to the access-locked posts), ask. I will not be offended in any way.

* If you want me to remove subscription, er, you can ask, but if I find you interesting enough you're stuck with me reading you :)

I have a number of posting filters that I use. Some of them are sekrit, but there are a few opt-in filters that I put people in only if they ask. So far, these are:

- sigma, for depression-related entries.

- family, for venting about familial wackiness and frustrations.

- wip, for posting works in progress, usually of fic; for this filter, encouragement good, critique bad.

(there are others, but I'm not actively using them.)

Opt-in-filtered entries are tagged with [filter]. If you are not included in a filter and want to be, let me know. If you are included and want out, let me know.

Comments to this entry are all screened, for purposes of commenting re access and filters.

Fun times: taking 10 (or was it fewer?) L80s into a dungeon designed for 40 L60s.

Even more fun times: fighting a boss, that, as far as I can tell, needed to have a certain number of hits done to him while in a frozen state, which only happened after a certain number of frost attacks, and we had ... a mage. And a warlock with a frost-damage wand. And no one else that could do frost attacks.

So we DPSed him down to 1 HP well before he reached frozen state. And then we kept doing damage, but since we couldn't kill him (he wasn't frozen yet), it didn't have any effect. And then about ten years later, he finally did freeze ... but it took two rounds of attacking-while-frozen to actually kill him. So there was another long-ass stretch of non-damaging-damage.

...yeah.

(There was one point where I left my character on auto-attack and wandered off to eat dessert. Granted, that was only a couple bites of stuff, after which I came back, but still.)
