So yesterday was kind of miserable. Had a meeting Tuesday night that in theory was going to be ezmode and be out by 9:30 or 10. (It's scheduled to go until 9, but we rarely end up sticking to the agenda.) It got out at 11. We had Surprise Hard Decisions sprung on us.
And of course I was too wound up after that to go to bed, so we watched the new White Collar, and I went to bed about 1:30.
...and woke up to no running water. *headdesk*
(They usually give us a bit of warning on water outage stuffs, but not when it's emergency maintenance because of a broken pipe. We got water back at sometime between 1:30 and 2.)
Then I discovered that I had done the wrong row on the lace shawl thing. (At first I thought I had just forgotten do do the cable twist, but then I looked at it and it was too obviously off, even in the lace section.) So much for chugging along! Tried tinking back, which didn't work out so well. Gave up and frogged to the lifeline.
(and frogging is so zenishly therapeutic - zip ziiiiip zip -- that I didn't notice that I was at the lifeline until the yarn refused to pull out, at which point the end five stitches were so freaking tight that getting them on the needles was next to impossible. I'm still not entirely convinced I picked up the right row of stitches; I might have picked up the row below for those five, I don't know.)
I am honesty this close to putting it in the wip storage area. Bagged, and with a printout of the chart with row-I-stopped-on marked, but I keep making stupid mistakes on it and it's driving me crazy and knitting is supposed to be FUN. The pattern itself is awesome and well-written and everything, I honestly don't know what my problem is, but ... I don't know. Maybe I can do a pair of socks or something...
