So
star_trek_flashfic has Mirrorverse as the current prompt, which means that rewatching Mirror, Mirror was only, you know, logical and all that.
Um. I am currently being devoured alive by plot bunnies. Send help?
I had vague memories of the episode -- Spock with a beard is not easily forgotten -- but was conflating it with SGverse quantum realities. (Which in some sense isn't that far off the mark, except that IIRC the episodes in other ST series went back to the same reality, kind of like there was some sort of attunement between the two, rather than jumping to different realities the way Stargate SG-1 eps did.)
Still, I wanted to rewatch it to get a proper sense of what the Mirrorverse was. Especially since I had this idea
The first idea (after seeing the movie again but before seeing MM) was to have Reboot Spock go through, find out Vulcan was still around, and get all wibbly, at least in the way Spock does, which is to say not at all except for angsting on the inside. But after seeing MM ... holy fuck. Vulcan exists, but the Vulcans are not TOS Vulcans; obvs Sarek and Amanda still hook up to produce a Spocklet, but Vulcans are freaking scary, as evidenced by the fact that Mirrorverse!Sulu is threatening M!Spock who basically says "If I happen to die, my friends will avenge you, and some of them are Vulcan," which shuts Sulu up faster than you can say Vulcan Death Grip (which they probably have).
And then there's Uhura, and my brain leapt on the possibility of M!Uhura belonging to M!Spock (much like whassernamegueststar was M!Kirk's woman), and sort of partly willingly but mainly not, and so the interaction between M!Uhura and Reboot!Spock would freak him the fuck out (and cause more freaking when he gets back and Uhura's all concerned over him and he just pushes her away because the last time he'd seen 'her', she was on her knees on his floor naked and handcuffed and telling him to whip her for the disobedience of having M!Sulu make advances towards her, and he just cannot freaking handle that.
... and then there's a weird kinky M!Kirk/M!Sulu dynamic which is all
helens78's fault except Mirrorverse and therefore warped and at-best-borderline noncon and I can't even write normal kink all that well, why is my brain trying to get me to write Mirrorverse kink which is about as far from sane and consentual as you can get. ...don't answer that.
