New icons, and random xmfc babble
Aug. 9th, 2011 07:22 pmNewly uploaded to DW, not yet on LJ, two more xmfc icons:

(The latter is not /technically/ xmfc, because it's from a scan of a comics page, but I don't really know x-men comic canon, so I'm happily splashing around in the movieverse.
Headcanon: The bullet is not what caused the paralysis. (Remember that the suits were designed to be bulletproof, and also there was no blood on what Erik retrieved.) Rather, Charles injured his back in the plane crash -- not enough for immediate effect, especially with adrenaline and probable shock -- and injured it further wrestling with Erik, and the impact of the bullet (not penetrative, but still an impact; afaik modern bulletproof vests will stop a bullet but you'll still bruise and hurt like hell underneath) was just a last straw.
Headcanon: Erik keeps the bullet with him, as a reminder, basically replacing the coin.
Something between headcanon and a fic I am not writing: Charles mindwiped Moira less for himself (since, you know, he's doing a school for mutants in property owned by him, which is not precisely anonymity) and more for Erik. Because it's fine for the government to know about allied/cooperative mutants (she remembers everything up to Shaw's attack) but dangerous for them to know about antagonistic mutants.
A fic I am not writing: Charles, mansion-era, giving a lecture about Evolution. I mean, okay, Sean probably dozes off through the whole thing and Hank and Alex are kicking each other's ankles and Erik's spending half his concentration thinking about sex with Charles, but -- see, okay, Erik's line on the beach about how the Neanderthal is running scared? only makes sense in context with the homo sapiens / homo neanderthalensis parallel, and so only really works if that parallel is made explicit, but the only people who hear that line that we know of are a) Raven, to whom Charles was reading, and b) presumably Moira and anyone else at his presentation, which doubtless referenced that somehow. It makes sense in a meta context because that parallel was established earlier, but it doesn't make sense as something Erik would use as a persuasive argument unless the parallel had been established to the people listening.
A fic I want to write but really have no reason to: Angel doesn't leave with Shaw (and Darwin as a consequence doesn't die), and therefore both of them are involved with mansion funtiemz. ...I say I have no reason to write this, but I sort of do, except it's ... I really don't grok the change from the Angel we see at first to the Shaw-allied Angel. Yes, there are guys being idiots, and she doesn't feel like she belongs, but that doesn't mean she's going to runn off with a mass murderer.
Unless Shaw has persuasion as a secondary mutation, or something. Snerk.
(Also, I want to be able to write Raven/Angel, and while I know that's possible post-movie, I'd rather do it during the Training Montage Era.)

I have fics that I want to be writing -- several kinkmeme WIPs, several more kinkmeme "omg want to write this once I get my WIP queue down", the Valdemar fusion ("Wait, we have to wear /white/? I like black. Can I wear black?" "**but Erik, I'm white, we have to maaaatch**" "...am I seriously taking fashion advice from a HORSE?"), the merfolk ficathon thing that is quite rapidly turning into a Little Mermaid fusion (it works out SCARILY WELL omg my brain), and a bunch of kink bingo storylets -- but no spoons. I would also say no words, but I obviously have words, else there wouldn't be this entry; I just don't have writing words.
Bah.
