star trek: into darkness

saw it. not the cheerfulest distraction from kitty woes, but ehh.
Okay, to start with, the stuff I didn't like: the blood thing is ridiculous (and a stupid sort of Applied Phlebotinum because hey it can cure anything!!!1 -- except now I sorta want fic where Khan's blood has Unexpected Side Effects on Kirk); the KHAAAAAAAN made me giggle; and while Benedict Cumberbatch is quite a good actor I wish he hadn't been Khan. Both for the whitewashing thing (and for the unfortunate implication that British White Male is totes bestest) and for the fact that it felt sort of shoehorned in.
But then.
Pike! (except for the "dammit Pike" thing.) Love his interactions with Kirk, love their relationship, kind of want to fic Kirk-as-Pike's-Second-Officer AU (of AU), also kind of want Kirk/Pike stuffs.
Spock! Spock being badass Vulcan, and Spock being all ~emotions~ and trying so hard not to be, and and and and I just love Spock lots, k.
And Spock continuing to be a Vulcanish smartass! ("I am expressing several attitudes simultaneously, to which are you referring" doesn't /quite/ have the same ring as "Live long and prosper", but whatevers.) And there were quite a few good lines. Or, in some cases, not-lines.
And also him going to Spock for advice! (Though I kind of got a fit of giggles imagining the parts of the conversation we didn't see. "Khan -- oh, *damn* it all, this is the second movie, isn't it. Look, whatever you do, don't go near any irradiated areas of the ship, all right?") *And* none of my fics got jossed in any way yay.
Kirk! and his demotion (which is fair given that he really *isn't* ready for command but also made me wibble). And I maybe sort of like CP-as-Kirk a whole lot better than WS-as-Kirk even though they're both Kirky.
(And I sort of want to fic about that culture in the first part of the movie, and the repercussions of breaking the PD.)
And Uhura got to be all awesome linguist! \o/
Anyway I don't know if this one falls into the "multiple rewatch" category the way the reboot did, but whee for not dousing my Treklove! (And also whee for stirrings of fic-wants, which is a nice step towards getting my fic mojo back.)
