Today's normal daily and heroic daily, in WoW, were both the same (CoS), so I did something I rarely do, and went with a random group on my hordelet hunter.
I avoid pugs for two reasons. One, they tend to suck. The other, slightly ironically given the first, is that I tend to suck, partly by not being the most efficient player but also because I am in the fun catch-22 of hitting L80: I need better gear to do more damage, but the places where I can get said gear are the places where I need to do damage. And so I like to run with people that know I am limited in that respect.
But anyway, I went with a pug, and crossed my fingers that it wouldn't be as bad as I was expecting.
There were the usual fun pug moments. Like when we wiped two-thirds of the way through the gauntlet, and one of the people went afk without saying anything, and then expected a rez. And then, when we were doing the first part of the gauntlet down a dps, the rogue decided to do a bathroom brb. (The group leader kicked him out of the group at that point.)
But the best bit was the group leader, a druid tank who:
a) yelled at me and the other hunter to do more volley during the first bits, which possibly was valid but really bordered on telling us how to play our characters;
b) yelled at us to quit with the Misdirect -- not because we were pulling shit onto him, mind you, but because it was one boss and therefore, I suppose, unnecessary;
c) yelled at me and the rogue for not doing enough damage, which was valid (he was averaging 1k, I was 1.3kish) but see the second reason why I dislike pugging; and
d) (as we were going through the gauntlet a second time, with the decent-dps hunter down) yelled at me to stop with the volley already, since it was down to only one target. did I mention this was the gauntlet? and that he had already yelled at me earlier in the instance for not doing volley?
... yeah.
Point b, in particular, made me wtf like crazy. I've kind of trained myself into "MD onto tank whenever possible, even if it doesn't look necessary", so ... um ... yeah.
*sigh*
I'm sure there are great pugs out there; I'm just reeeeeally not likely to try one again any time soon.
