Hi, I'm spammy today, it seems

... So the Beauty and the Beast (Disney) story that I wrote for Yuletide (link) and obsessive rewatchings of BatB have kind of ... *flail*
So when I was writing the story, I knew that the Beast didn't change back; I contemplated having the servants re-humanized (probably by him asking the enchantress "if not me, at least for *them*"), but the enchantress wasn't cooperative; but the bit that surprised me was Belle, and how she ended up behaving.
I'm kind of in the camp that Belle got a bit cheated by the ending of the movie. It was the Beast she fell in love with, after all, not the prince (Adam? I think that's his name? maybe?), not even beast-with-potential-of-princeness. And so she got what she wanted, and I ... was kind of baffled at how upset she was.
(what, you expect me to have control of my stories? *snicker*)
Except then I realized that she didn't get what she wanted.
I mean, she got the Beast, yes, and they can be together, but.
I want adventure in the great wide somewhere
I want it more than I can tell
And for once, it might be grand
To have someone understand
I want so much more than they've got planned...
The Beast, especially post-(last chance at being human), isn't going to want to go out. Even though I don't think that's a condition of the enchantment per se.
And. I just. I want to write a happy ending, and I can't.
