Star Trek thunks

So... I finally got to see it \o/
So, um, first-brush thoughts, in no particular order:
* I finally get why everyone's calling it Star Trek: Reboot. (I thought it was just a normal reboot, in the sense of "we're taking the original characters and doing our own thing. canon? what canon?"; kind of like ST:E but with TOS characters. But no, it's an actual AR reboot. *squee*
* Casting was fucking *awesome*. Had a bit of cognitive dissonance in some respects -- Sarek and Amanda, for not being their original people; Spock, for the Sylar thing (though at least now the promos shot of him maniacally strangling someone makes sense, and I have to say that the end bit with Spock and Spock was made of awesome); Chekov, for reasons I can't quite place -- but Bones was *perfect* and Sulu was awesome and Uhura was kick-ass and Kirk was ... a heck of a lot better than Shatner.
* OTOH, despite my brain going "...Sylar!" at inopportune moments, I will admit that I had glee at his delivery of "Live long and prosper" as an insult. Oh, Spock. ♥
* Also had a bit of bzuh? regarding the Spock/Uhura thing, since that's not something that can be explained by the reboot factor and it doesn't mesh with what I remember of TOS. (then again, canon, what canon?)
* Please tell me I'm not the only one that, every fucking time they showed the Romulan ship but especially the first time when it was coming through, went "omg Vorlon".
* I need some Star Trek (Reboot-version) icons. Omg.
In sum: awesome. Except for the bit where there's no more Vulcan *sadface*
