Still hooked on T2, and I have a serious collecting problem.

See, in addition to just "This is a piece of armor with stats X, Y, and Z" separate pieces of armor, occasionally pieces are part of specific armor sets, where having multiple pieces of a set gives you additional bonuses.

Now, if these were either a) significantly rarer (so that there were fewer sets overall) or b) significantly more common (so that pieces of a particular set are easier to find), I'd be okay. But neither one is the case -- and you can't farm an area for a rare drop, because the game doesn't work that way.

So I end up holding on to set pieces when they drop, and buying them when they're available from the npc merchants, because I might need them.

Now, it is also worth pointing out that each character has a) an inventory, b) a stash, and c) a shared stash that is the same for all characters. But these are very finite spaces. 32 inventory, which if used for long term storage reduces the amount of drops you can pick up and sell for gold; 40 stash; 40 in the shared stash.

I currently have two mule characters who exist just for armor sets, because otherwise I was seriously running out of storage.

And an excel file to keep track of what parts I have or don't have.

And it's kind of stupid, because armor doesn't level up with you, but armor needs do -- I technically could run around forever in my lvl 7 armor set, say, but I would very quickly go splat -- so you'd think that that would clear up space, except that there are four character classes, and so if I'm sitting there leveling my embermage and she outgrows an armor set I "have to" hang on to it for when I get bored maging and go onto my berserker to do some hulk smash ...

...but at the same time I don't want to get rid of it because omg what if I need it someday

(or, like, really good weapons -- I have this axe that one character used for a while that is pretty awesome for that level, except that right now none of my other characters use axes, because my mage is staff + dual wands, and my outlander is dual pistols + shotgonne, and my berserker is dual claws + ranged something, yet I can't let myself get rid of it because it is awesome and it might never drop again!)

This says a lot about the state of my apartment, too. heh.

So I'm playing T2, and I get to a random dungeony thing called Notch's
Mine, and I think nothing of it until I get inside and there are Creepers.

That explode.

Into blocks of what look like dirt.

And the chest contains a gold sword, of which the flavor text reads "No
better than Wood?"

No, really. Proof! )

Having played more of T2, my current evaluation is "what I wanted diablo iii to be". Plus, you know, fishing. And pets. Who can run to town to sell stuff for you. And also look cute.

Don't know how long I will be able to keep playing at the rate I did today, because it is intensely mouse-based (keyboard used mainly for potion hotkeys) and my wrist doesn't like that very much.

Been watching Orange is the New Black, but I've hit an embarrassment squick wall. Not unexpected given the power dynamics of prison, but there is a part of me that doesn't want to watch the next episode because of fallout. spoilers for 1x06 )

Chorus is doing Mozart Requiem this quarter. Proper version, too (the Süssmayr version that I am most used to, rather than the Levin version we sang last time, and there's at least one more version out there if not more). I am very happy.

For those who like RPGish games:

Torchlight 2 is currently having a free play weekend (through Steam or their own site), and the full game is on sale for $4.99 until Monday. It is a lot like Diablo III, except that I find it prettier, and every character has a pet, and it can be anything from the standard wolf or jaguar to an alpaca (!!), a panda, or a papillon. Plus there is fishing, though, having only played it for half an hour, of which half was spent on character creation, I haven't gotten a chance for that. But I like what I've seen so far, so.

If you like Diablo-ish games, and are looking for another time sink, /makes shooing gestures towards T2/
