I had a 620-ish day duolingo streak going. The app had been behaving oddly (several skills not gold but "there's nothing to practice, try learning something new". But whatever, I worked on Past Tense 2, all is well.

Today, the app is not able to connect to duo. So I log into the site.

The site says I have no activity since Friday.

Dear duo: Fuck you forever.

That happened to me at the end of July. My streak was only 60-odd days, but it irritated me enough that I decided to just take August off. Now I have to decide if I'm going to start up again tomorrow. I suppose I will but I'm still Pissed Off. They're focusing on rolling out new languages but it looks like they forgot about Server Robustness.

If I knew for sure my streak was unrecoverable I'd take time off just for sheer PO-ness. I don't know if there's something they can do on their end to restore the streak, and until I know, I'm continuing. But it's a pain to do on the computer because typing is awkward, the web interface on iOS sucks, the app is apparently unreliable, and seeing a "streak" of 2 days is just fucking depressing. I want to give up -- but then I get afraid that they'll say "wel we restored the glitch but you haven't done anything the last few days so you're fucked, HTH HAND".

Yeah that kept me going for a few days while I waited got response to my help request. When they said they couldn't help I gave up.
